129 mModified Warehouses,Globe Road, Bootle, Liverpool Originally built as warehouses in the Victorian era, these 'temples to commerce' were mainly used for the storage of imported materials (especially bales of cotton)brought up from the nearby docks. Note the original doorway and the rectangular-shaped area of new brickwork, that marks the place were the sacks and bales were hoisted up to the different floors of the then towering building! Sixty years ago, a now quiet Globe Road, would be teeming with dock traffic awaiting their 'turn' under the hoists!

281 mHarland & Wolff old Foundry entrance, Strand Road, Bootle The foundry was part of Harland & Wolff marine refit and repair shop located on Strand Road, Bootle. Located close to the then entrance to the Alexandra Dock on Regent Road(known locally as the 'Dock Road') The repair shop and foundry no longer exist. The original entrance gate to the Alexandra Dock has long gone. This section of the Dock Road was closed off to the public, the route of the road refigured, and a new entrance to this part of the North Liverpool dock system, which is now called 'The Liverpool Freeport.
