62 mChurch of St Everilda, Everingham An unusual church with an ashlar stone west tower and a brick nave. The tower is medieval, but appears to have been raised and altered in the 16th century. The brick built nave dates from the 1760's and may be the work of John Carr, who was working on Everingham Hall around this time. In the 19th century, the large Georgian windows were considerably reduced in size and the arches part filled with brick. Maybe the Victorians liked their church interiors to be gloomy.
