Looking at the now peaceful scene above, it is hard to believe such momentous events took place less than 70 years ago!

  Modified Warehouses,Globe Road, Bootle, Liverpool Originally built as warehouses in the Victorian era, these 'temples to commerce' were mainly used for the storage of imported materials (especially bales of cotton)brought up from the nearby docks. Note the original doorway and the rectangular-shaped area of new brickwork, that marks the place were the sacks and bales were hoisted up to the different floors of the then towering building! Sixty years ago, a now quiet Globe Road, would be teeming with dock traffic awaiting their 'turn' under the hoists!

  The Muncaster Arms Public House, Irlam Road, Bootle This Public house has a very interesting facade. Note the coat of arms complete with Latin inscription. Alas and alack, this building has recently suffered fire damage. It deserves to be protected as a good example of Victorian era pub' architecture.
